A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE ARTHOUSE HOTEL
The ArtHouse Hotel is a stylish taproom where arty types and suits mix it side by side in the heart of the CBD.
Featuring original architecture dating back to 1836 when it served as The School of Arts, this distinctive building has continuously evolved amid the city’s ever-changing fortunes. With four bars and a restaurant, all available for functions, the ArtHouse Hotel is hugely popular for events ranging from serious-minded corporate affairs to casual get-togethers, gala dinners, and publicity spectaculars.
In keeping with its heritage-listed origins, ArtHouse regularly plays host to creative arts events including life drawing, art exhibitions, burlesque and cabaret variety nights, photography workshops, and DJ and club nights.
From the Attic Bar with its stuffed Chesterfield couches and boho style, to the modern and theatrical Verge Bar and the Gallery bar’s ornate art deco stylings, there’s something – and somewhere – for everyone. The Dome Restaurant and Bar also doubles as exhibition hanging space for constantly changing artworks by Sydney’s best artists. All spaces double as an exhibition gallery.
